After digging through my closet for some summer clothes, I came across this white zipper skirt from Zara. It was one of my favorites to wear last summer, and I couldn’t let it go. I left it in the US since I was going to France in the fall and I have now re-added it to my summer lookbook. Since we purchase so many items online these days, it’s hard to tell whether or not a garment will actually look good in person (that lighting in photoshoots can be so deceiving sometimes!). However, I tried this piece on in the store, and I’m so glad I did.
It’s a nice length, considering I’m 5’9′, and I loved this A-line shape. Not only that, but it has a solid lining underneath so it’s not see-through at all. Technically, I could wear any color undergarment with this skirt, and it would be no problem. Honestly, it’s such a relief and one less thing to think about when styling your outfit together. However, my favorite part of this skirt is the side zipper detail. The zippers give it a modern, mod-like flair and dress it up a bit as well. While this white zipper skirt is my go-to for social events, I want to discuss how you could create your own look with this exposed zipper trend.
ZIPPER SKIRTS & TRENDS
The exposed zipper details are nothing new for this year, and have been a trend for quite some time now. I personally love wearing the exposed zippers with an angular cut or A-line skirt. I prefer fabrics that create an edgier look, like leather, but it all depends on what you’re feeling that day. If you’re searching for something sweet and romantic, then seek out neutral exposed zippers on a soft knit and light fabric. If you’re searching for an ensemble for a night out, then I would don a more bodycon shaped skirt or dress with darker hues. While the exposed zipper is just a small, intricate detail, it can decorate your outfit in so many interesting ways. For more styling ideas, check out how I sported my exposed zipper skirt below! As always, feel free to let me know if you have any questions or thoughts!
