This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love, which took place in San Francisco in 1967. While I wouldn’t be so quick to romanticize life in San Francisco, this moodboard depicts what I associate with this incredible city. I’ve always loved the history and music scene in San Francisco, and I’m so excited to go back this month. The last time I went to SF was during my freshman year of high school. While my MP3 (lol) played Fleetwood Mac and Arlo Guthrie, it was another thing to go to Haight Ashbury and see the iconic rock ‘n’ roll culture for myself (my dad being our tour guide, of course). I also stumbled upon my favorite record store in the Haight called Amoeba, and it holds a special place in my heart.
As an impressionable, young teenager whose Myspace song was Fleetwood Mac’s “Don’t Stop” and fave movie was Sixteen Candles (John Hughes ftw!), going to Amoeba was a very visceral experience. While the latter part of my last trip to SF consisted of touring Fisherman’s Wharf and Alcatraz, this trip will be a bit different.
I’ll be catching up with some friends from abroad, touring the Color Factory (check it out, it’s so cool!), heading to the SFMoma, strolling through the Berkeley, and spending some quality time with the fam. Looking forward to a wonderful week ahead, and can’t wait to share it all with you on the blog!
